The Orangery Tea Rooms...

If you don’t have time to visit inside the Castle, there is free access to the castle grounds, shop and tea rooms.

Open daily from 10am - 5pm (November - March 10am - 4pm)

Located in the fine wood panelled Wynn Ellis Room and the newly built ‘Orangery’ you will find our new Victorian tea room, with fine china and a wonderful vintage atmosphere, offering a selection of traditional, homemade quality fayre. Our modestly priced menu includes a selection of fresh sandwiches, cakes and cream teas. During fine weather, hot and cold drinks, light lunches and afternoon teas may also be served on the tranquil terrace overlooking the bowling green where you can sit and watch the gentle game of outdoor Bowling, while relaxing and taking in the clean sea air. The Castle Roof Garden offers views across the Bay of Whitstable to the Isle of Sheppey and the town centre and includes stunning sunsets painted by Turner, adored by millions of visitors to the town every year. We promise you a breathtaking experience when you visit Whitstable Castle.

Special events take place throughout the year including afternoon music within the Orangery and also in the Victorian Gazebo located on the lower terrace, ideal to relax and while away the long summer afternoons. If you have a young family then the new children’s play area is within easy view of the top terrace so you can relax with a drink and perhaps something tempting from our local homemade menu while the children play.

Gift Vouchers are available for that special occasion; these can be purchased from the Orangery Tea Rooms and are ideal presents for all ages.

Please see our events page for future information. You may wish to become a “Friend & Member of Whitstable Castle” keeping you informed by newsletter and offering a discount on selected events.
