Whitstable Castle is just a short walk from the famous working harbour and the High Street filled with many independent boutiques, shops, restaurants, cafes and art galleries. Whitstable Museum is not to be missed, with many displays and artefacts showing Whitstable long history all the way back to when Mammoths roamed the coastline. There are many references in the town to the late actor, Peter Cushing, who lived in Whitstable for many years until his death in 1994. Whitstable has many famous residents and celebrity-spotting has become a local pastime! You can also take a stroll along the promenade towards Tankerton; here you will discover many antique and other independent shops.
