May Day Fair

This will be the 48th Whitstable May Day, set in the beautiful grounds of the Castle with all kinds of stalls, sideshows, music and entertainment, starting at 11am. The Morris Dancers will arrive from the town and dance through the Castle Gardens to assemble on the lawn to sing the “Mayday Song”. They will be accompanied by the Jack in the Green, Jim the Hooden Horse and his lad as well as Boris the Bear, with Marian and Robin of course. Not forgetting Jack’s band of musicians and a Samba Band too. It’s a day for all the family with Crazee Hazee’s free Circus School, Punch and Judy shows, Maypole dancing, a Coconut Shy, music and performances by Kent School of Performing Arts, BerZerk Dance Show Case and the 1st Whitstable Scout Silver Band to entertain until the close at 4.30 pm.
502 local school children entered the Lions’ competition to design a front cover for the programme of events, available for a donation to raise funds to support local people in need.
